To the Chairman
Mothers International School
New Delhi-110016

Dear Sir

As a parents representative, after due consultation with other parents, the following is the submission for timely intervention by the board.

  • The interaction between the parent’s teachers and the students needs to be relooked in the following areas
    • Studies
    • Extra curricular activities
    • Sports
    • Attitudes in life keeping our past inheritance of value based education in mind.
  • Reformatting of inter-house spirit for nurturing leadership in both students and teachers
  • A systematic change for reestablishing value based education as the present generation of M.I.S students need intervention both from teachers and parents.
  • A system in place to reorient and reallocate teacher responsibility based on skills aptitude and inclination. This should be done by putting in place a systematic mechanism for building a team with one voice that thinks only for the good of our children.

Best regards
Vivek Bhushan

Notice from the Principal, about Buses.

Here is a copy of a letter from the Principal, The Mother’s International School. This concerns all parents whose children use the bus service.

Circular for parents regarding withdrawal of DTC Bus Services

Dear Parents,

It has been possible for the School to provide regular bus service for transportation of children to and from school in the past, for nearly a decade with the help of the services of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). The present Contract with DTC expires on the 31st of March, 2010. The advance for the month of April, 2010 was sent along with the request for renewal of the contract on 10 th March, 2010. Regretfully, the payment was not accepted by the Corporation, and we were verbally informed that the Contract shall not be renewed for our School.

We also understand, unofficially, that the transport facility is being withdrawn by the DTC to our School and a few others, while for the rest of the Schools the facility shall be continued.

We are prompted to share our anxiety with the parents, regarding this development which would affect nearly fifteen hundred children of our school and cause untold misery to students and parents in the ensuing summer weeks. In the meantime we request you to kindly make alternate arrangements for the transportation of your child to and from school, for the new academic session, 1 st April, 2010 onwards.

While we are taking this serious matter up directly with the DTC as well as with other Authorities, we would like to keep you informed of the further developments. We hope that our joint efforts would bear fruit, and that the DTC shall agree to continue the Bus Service without interruption.

Hoping for your full support and cooperation in the matter.

With my best regards,

(signed) Principal

One step forward

Last Saturday, a group of parents got together to discuss how to improve things (not that anything in particular is doing very poorly!) in the School. This included this year and last year's parents' representatives in addition to something like eight others. The Principal and other members of the Management were also there.

Of course its too early to give any specifics, but basically there was considerable discussion on various matters that pertain to the well being of our children. And much discussion on what we, as parents, can do. And on teachers and teaching. And on Sports.

There is a lot that can be done, of course. And here is a place to air your opinions. Please write in.

Facebook and other networking sites

As many of you would have learned, there is some concern about the use/abuse of Facebook and other social networking sites by our children.

What do parents feel about this? What do they know? And what about the children? Are they aware of how the social networking sites manipulate people and data?

Some discussion on this matter would be good.

Integral Learning

The concept of Integral Learning - something that MIS followed in earlier days- could still be relevant in today's context. There are experts on this mode of education in Auroville and they do this for a living.

Can we harness this resource to get back the lost glory at MIS? Follow the links below to learn more about it, and write back with your comments to this post!
