The new Principal, Mrs Rajalakshmi, has taken over. She has been at MIS for the past 21 years, teaches Chemistry in the senior school, and has worked intimately with the School administration for a long time. I believe she is very open and receptive to your suggestions and ideas.
Some of the things discussed were
- Buses. This is going to be a problem in the future as the DTC reduces the number of buses it provides, but private transporters are not the answer. Given the rules imposed by the Delhi Government, it is likely that the school will cater to a smaller geographical area, perhaps only those children who can walk to school.
- Cleanliness. Mosquitos. etc. This is something that has to be done continuously. All classrooms have the mosquito repellent vaporisers. Any other suggestions? Please let me know and I will pass it on.
- Teacher resignations. There have been 2 in the past few months. The Biotechnology teacher has left owing to the very low enrolment- there were 4 students this year and none the next year... Another teacher resigned for personal reasons.
- Sports. This is something where your active input and suggestions are needed. Football is emphasised since it is inexpensive and inclusive.
- 6th Pay Commission. The directive of the Government is awaited. As of now, the additional burden on the School is Rs 1.5 crore or more, and the question of how to raise funds is very high on the minds of the management. The Ashram and School are quite separate, so there is very little buffer that the school has. Fees will surely go up, probably by 50%.
The government committee is meeting now and a report is expected on the 17th, i.e. next week.

The class rooms are not kept clean . The sweeper does not dust /clean them on a daily basis. The furniture is kept dusty . The toilets are also dirty .
The teachers leaving the school before the expiry of the session cause a great harm to the students . Moreover there has to be replacement ready so that the damage caused to the students are minimum .
The school authorities should increase the fees , if necessary . There should be greater emphasis on the quality of eduction imparted and continuous upgradtion of the educational and sports facilities . The childeren spend the golden years of their lives in their school and the school should provide the best keeping in view the challenging demands of the new India . I have also observed that the students of MIS lack the competitive edge though they are very good in studies .
It is generally felt that there is degradation in the moral values of the students . perhaps due to more exposure of TV /cenemas/ other media and more so when the parents do not spend enough quality time with their children . The role and the responsibility of the school in such a scenario has increased manifold to impart moral value education/ engage them in extra curricular / sports activites/ provide counselling sessions on a regular basis to its students . MIS is always known as the spiritual school of india and with the presence of serene and purity of the Ashram can do a lot more to provide the spiritual/ moral aspect of education to its children in an organised and consistent manner .

MIS school stands third after TSRS and Sanskriti in North Zone. I belive MIS should improve in terms of Leadership/management quality so as to be the best in Delhi as well as in India.
I strongly feel that the MIS teachers should go through an appraisal system by the parents. Of late, I notice that there is a casual approach and no accountability. The school management should assess the teachers on all areas. This will not only make them aware of their strengths and weaknesses but also motivate them to perform better.
I totally agree with smart cookie. I think, there is a need for an appraisal system of teachers by the students more than the parents. Students should be made to feel responsible and taken into confidence.Teachers like Vibha Raizada,Shweta Sharma, Ashutosh need counseling in a positive and encouraging attitude towards children. Vibha Raizada needs to teach History Civics more
efficiently and should cover the
course before the cycle test. Ashutosh should realise not all children are born artist. They have to be taught the basics of art.
Ashish Sir, from Pondicherry needs to take a lesson in patience and use of good language rather than an abusive one. People like him are an embarassment to the Aurobindo foundation.
School's trust needs to give more choice of subjects at the higher secondary level,so that brilliant children do not leave the school in want of better subjects. MIS has come down from 1st to 3rd rank. The system has to be looked into.
yeah i fully agree with the idea of teacher's assessment by parents... we have peer review mechanism in our organisation...and it works!!!
the teachers should also m,ove with the times and not just teach the same old syllabus (over which they have no control) the same old way (which i feel could be improved)
Just wanted to inform everybody mother's international though talks of moral value and all but they ask teacher's on probation to resign if they are pregnant to avoid paying maternity benefits.
